PURPOSE/FUNCTION:
It is made up of a network of nerves and specialized cells called neurons that transmit signals between different part of the bodies and control body movement, consciousness, intelligence, memory, and other automatic/involuntary (blood pressure level, breathing etc) and somatic/voluntary parts like senses.

COMPONENTS: It is divided into two major parts as:
1. CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM: The portion of our nervous system consisting of the brain and spinal cord.
2. PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM: The part of the nervous system which lies outside of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). It includes the nerves that extend to the limbs and many sense organs.
